How beemate's fees work

Three charges, two sides of every seat. These are the rates in force today; a change applies to payments from the day it is made.

If you chope a seat

The price on a hive is what you pay, nothing is added at checkout. It is the seat price the owner set — their plan's monthly cost divided by its seats — plus beemate's service fee of 25% of the seat price, capped at S$2.00 a month. The fee covers the platform: the listing, the messages, the record of who owes what, and the help when something goes wrong.

You pay per period, at its start, and can leave whenever you like. If an owner ends your seat before the period is over, the whole of what you paid for it — seat price and fee — comes back to you.

If you open a hive

You receive the seat price less beemate's commission of 6% on each seat payment, every month, for as long as the seat is taken. The service fee your mateys pay is on top of the seat price and never comes out of your side.

When someone finds your public hive through the catalogue, a one-off introduction fee of 10% of the seat price, capped at S$2.00, comes off that matey's first month. A private hive carries no introduction fee: you brought the people yourself.

A seat is paid at the start of its period. If you end a matey's seat before their period is over, what they paid goes back to them from your balance, and the fees beemate took on that period are charged to you as well — closing on the last renewal date instead costs nothing.

A matey pays, each monthS$5.00S$12.00
The owner receives, each monthS$3.76S$9.40

“Public” is a hive found through the catalogue; on a private hive the first month is the same as every other.

Closing a hive, or ending a seat, before the period is over

A seat is paid at the start of its period, and the owner undertakes to keep the service working until the end of it. Closing a hive, or removing a matey, on the last renewal date keeps that promise and costs nothing.

Ending a seat today breaks it, and the cost falls on the owner: what that matey paid for the period, plus the fees beemate took on it. The popup that asks you to confirm shows the total, taken from your balance, for the seats being cut short.

When what you receive is yours to withdraw

A co-subscriber pays for a seat at the start of each period, and the amount leaves their balance at once. What reaches you as an owner is on your ledger from the same day, but on hold for 30 days before it counts towards what you can withdraw: if the seat turns out not to be delivered, the refund comes out of that amount first, and only what it does not cover out of your available balance. Your home page shows the available figure as your account balance, and what is on hold beside it with the day it clears.

A renewal is paid from what is available on the day. If your balance will not cover a seat's next renewal you are told straight away and reminded a week before; if it still does not cover it on the day, the seat ends at the end of the period you have. Nothing is cut short and nothing is owed.

What beemate does not do

beemate does not hold your money. Payments are not switched on yet; when they are, a licensed payment provider will collect and split them. Until then every figure on your home page is a record of what is owed under these rules, not a sum held anywhere. The terms of use say the rest.
