How beemate works today. Where something is not built yet, it says so rather than describing an intention.
Getting started
What beemate is, and what it is not.
A place to fill the empty seats on a subscription you already pay for, or to take one of someone else's. The person paying the provider is the owner; everyone else in the plan is a matey. The owner sets a price per seat and keeps their plan; mateys pay a fraction of the full price.
No. beemate is not affiliated with, partnered with, or endorsed by any provider listed here. Access and usage conditions are set by each provider, and we only list a plan publicly when the provider's own terms allow sharing beyond a single household. Read their terms before you join a hive — they are the ones that bind you, not ours.
Sharing a plan the provider designed to be shared is ordinary use — that is what a family or duo plan is for. What causes trouble is sharing a plan whose own terms forbid it. That is why our public catalogue is limited to services we believe permit it, and why a subscription you add yourself stays private: nobody has checked it.
Mateys pay the seat price the owner sets. beemate will take a commission on each payment, and the rate is not decided yet. Payments are not switched on at all today, so nothing is charged to anyone.
No. Browsing hives is open to anyone. You need an account to chope a seat, open a hive, or send a message.
Joining a hive
For mateys: taking a seat and using it.
Open the hive and press Chope this seat. If the owner has instant approval on, the seat is yours immediately. Otherwise your request waits for them, and you will see it as pending until they answer.
The intention is 24 hours, after which a request that went unanswered should be refundable. Nothing enforces this yet and no money changes hands, so today an unanswered request simply stays pending. Message the owner — that usually settles it.
Yes. There is no lock-in and no notice period. Once payments exist, leaving will stop the charge from the following month.
You cannot chope a seat in a full hive. There is no waiting list yet, so the practical answer is to message the owner or check back.
That depends entirely on the provider, not on us. Most family plans give each member their own profile and history; some shared logins do not. The owner's note on the hive usually says which.
Payments and payouts
How money will work, and why none moves yet.
No. No payment provider is connected, no card can be saved, and no money moves. Everything about seats and prices is real; the billing is not there yet.
No, and this is deliberate rather than incidental. Payments will run through a provider that holds and splits the funds itself. The balance you see will be a view over their ledger, not a sum sitting on our books — holding member money would put us in a different regulatory category entirely.
Not decided. Payouts, their schedule, and the commission rate all wait on the payment provider being chosen.
Singapore dollars, shown as S$3.20. Only SGD is supported and there are no plans for others yet.
That is between you and IRAS, and depends on your circumstances. We are not able to give tax advice. What we can say is that money received for seats in a plan you pay for is income you should be prepared to account for.
Trust and safety
How members judge each other, and what we can see.
Ten steps, ten points each, shown as a ring around a member's photo. It is calculated from what someone has actually done — confirmed an email, added a photo and a date of birth, accepted a request quickly, kept a hive running for a month — not from anything they claim. It is never edited by hand.
Your profile lists the ten steps and ticks the ones you have met. Most tick themselves as you use the site. Three of them — a bank statement, an identity document, a verified invoice — wait on checks that are not built yet, so nobody can complete them today.
Your display name, handle and photo are public. Your date of birth and phone number are not shown to anyone. Your email is visible only to you.
Save your number on the personal details page, then ask for a code by SMS and type it back. Your number is shown to nobody, and changing it clears the verification — otherwise someone could verify one number and quietly swap in another. If the button tells you no SMS provider is connected, that is the current state rather than an error on your side.
Never send a payment outside beemate, and never share a password you use elsewhere. Nobody from beemate will ever ask you for your password. Reporting is not built yet, so for now the honest advice is to stop replying and not to send anything.
When something goes wrong
What is possible today, and what is not.
Message them from the hive page — they get an email unless they turned notifications off. There is no automatic release or refund for an unanswered request yet, which is a real gap and one worth knowing before you rely on it.
Ask the owner in the conversation attached to that hive; credentials get changed and invites expire, and it is usually that. There is no dispute process behind it yet.
Leave it, and tell the owner why. There is nothing to reclaim, since nothing has been charged. A reporting flow is one of the things that has to exist before payments do.
There is no button for it yet. That is a genuine shortcoming — you have a right to withdraw your consent to us holding your data — and it is on the list to build. In the meantime, ask and it will be done by hand.
Through the contact form. Your message is stored the moment you send it, so it is not lost even while the mailbox behind it is still being set up. beemate is a preview run by one person, so a reply may take a few days.
beemate is an independent platform. It is not affiliated with, partnered with, or endorsed by any of the providers mentioned here. Access and usage conditions are set by each provider — please read theirs before you join a hive.
